the Public Health Advisory Committee (PHAC) releases new report - determining our future
The Public Health Advisory Committee has released their 2025 report Determining our Future - Social, Cultural, Economic and Commercial Determinants of Wellbeing in Aotearoa New Zealand: Actions to improve our health and wellbeing.
Twenty-five years after the last major report on determinants of health in Aotearoa, this report reviews progress since 2000. It looks out to 2040 and discusses key new challenges for health equity, such as the increasing impacts of the climate crisis, commercial influences, AI and digital technologies.
The PHAC recommends actions to government to achieve health and wellbeing for all New Zealanders.
The PHANZ welcomes this report and the focus on improving health equity to build a fairer, healthier future.
The Public Health Advisory Committee (PHAC) is an advisory committee established under the Pae Ora (Healthy Futures) Act. It gives independent expert advice on public health issues in Aotearoa New Zealand.
