PAST EVENTS

Over the years, we’ve been proud to bring together public health professionals, researchers, and community leaders through events such as our annual conferences and Global Public Health Week virtual summits. These events have provided valuable opportunities to share knowledge, spark ideas, and strengthen connections across Aotearoa and beyond.

On this page, you’ll find highlights from our past gatherings — a chance to look back on the important conversations, collaborations, and milestones that continue to shape our shared vision for a healthier future.

gLOBAL PUBLIC HEALTH WEEK

global public health week virtual summit

MONDAY 7 - WEDNESDAY 9 APRIL 2025

PHANZ’s Global Public Health Week Virtual Summit brought together 27 speakers across 21 sessions over three days, with participants joining from Aotearoa and beyond. Discussions covered a wide range of topics, including public health equity, Indigenous and migrant health, misinformation, mental health, immunisation, and culturally grounded care.

A highlight of the event was the strong theme of connection and whanaungatanga, reminding us of the importance of trust and relationships in supporting our communities.

The summit was expertly MCed by Ulugia Lealailepule Edward Cowley, whose energy and warmth helped create an engaging experience for all.

Recordings of the sessions are available to PHANZ members through the Members Site under Webinar and Workshop Recordings!

PUBLIC HEALTH CONFERENCE

PUBLIC HEALTH CONFERENCE 2024

THURSDAY 11 - FRIDAY 12 APRIL 2024

Our 2024 Public Health Conference, held at the Novotel Lakeside in Rotorua, brought together a sold-out audience of public health professionals, researchers, and community leaders. The theme, “From Vulnerable to Vibrant: Transformative Approaches in Public Health,” guided two days of inspiring discussions, workshops, and keynote presentations.

A Conference Insights Report was developed from participant feedback and contributions, highlighting key priorities for the sector. The report underscored the importance of collaborative leadership, Indigenous and community-led solutions, innovative approaches to reducing inequities, and the need for sustained investment in public health infrastructure.
