CAUCUSES

Caucus Groups

The Public Health Association of New Zealand (PHANZ) caucus groups are formed by members with common interests, expertise or affiliations relating to specific public health issues or populations. The purpose of these caucus groups is to provide a platform for members to connect, collaborate and advocate on specific topics or areas within public health.

The PHANZ currently has three active caucus groups:

  • Māori Caucus

    The Māori Caucus focuses on addressing the unique public health needs of Māori communities in New Zealand. They advocate for Māori health equity, cultural sensitivity and equity in healthcare as well as engagement with Māori communities.

  • Pacific Caucus

    The Pacific Caucus concentrates on the health issues and well-being of Pacific peoples in New Zealand. They work to promote the health and development of Pacific communities and advocate for policies that benefit this population.

  • Asian Caucus

    The Asian Caucus is dedicated to addressing the unique public health challenges and opportunities faced by Asian and migrant communities in New Zealand. Their mission is to promote health equity, cultural sensitivity and inclusive policies that benefit these populations.
