The Public Health Association of New Zealand (PHANZ) Pacific Caucus was honoured to host Tagaloa Dr. Junior Ulu, Director of Pacific Health at the Ministry of Health | Manatū Hauora, as the featured speaker at the first session of its Pacific Public Health Leadership Series, held online with PHANZ Pacific Caucus members.
Dr. Ulu shared insights into the work of the Ministry of Health’s Pacific Health Directorate, providing an overview of current priorities, challenges, and opportunities to better support Pacific communities through public health initiatives.
“Pacific health leadership means knowing where you fit within the strategy” said Dr Ulu, “Doing the mahi, and sharing those insights with us. That’s how we shape the system — by showing what’s working, strengthens the narrative and making sure the Ministry can back it.”
