Each year, the Public Health Association of New Zealand (PHANZ) celebrates individuals and groups who have gone above and beyond to improve the health and wellbeing of our communities.

 

We’re excited to announce that nominations for the 2025 Annual Public Health Awards are now open!

 

These awards honour outstanding contributions to public health in Aotearoa, recognising leadership, commitment, and advocacy that make a real impact.

🏆 The 2025 Public Health Award Categories

🔹 Public Health Champion
Honouring individuals who have made an exceptional contribution to public health, raised the profile of one or more public health issues, and in turn helped lift the profile of PHANZ.

🔹 Tū Rangatira mō te Ora
Recognising an individual, group, iwi/hapū, or marae that has demonstrated leadership in hauora development, shown deep commitment to Hauora Māori, and raised the profile of Māori health within public health.

🔹 Pasifika Public Health Award
Celebrating those who have led with integrity and purpose in Pacific public health, demonstrated unwavering commitment to Pacific People’s health, and raised its visibility in Aotearoa.

🔹 Asian and Ethnic Peoples Public Health Award
Acknowledging individuals or groups who have championed health equity within Asian and Ethnic communities, demonstrated strong public health leadership, and helped elevate the profile of this important mahi.

📍 Award winners will be announced at the PHANZ Annual Conference – 26–27 November 2025
