How to join the PHA

pohutakawaIndividual memberships to the PHA are renewed annually and run for one year from the date your membership fee is processed.

Membership fee rates vary according to your personal income. A breakdown of the various rates is included on our membership form and on the sign-up/renewal web page.

You can join the PHA or renew your membership online (preferred) or manually by downloading our membership application and renewal form.

The benefits of belonging

Members of the PHA receive the following benefits:

  • the opportunity to take part in meetings and conferences addressed by leading thinkers in public health
  • the PHA's newsletter six times a year
  • a weekly bulletin of latest public health information, including job vacancies and conferences
  • the opportunity to contribute to the development of public policy
  • potential membership of advisory committees
  • access to PHA's communications and media experts for advice and support
  • access to research and public health publications
  • special rates at conferences, seminars and workshops
  • voluntary participation in local branch activities
  • support and representation from people in other professions and workplaces.

Members' confidentiality

PHA members' personal information is confidential to the PHA and stored securely in our online database.

However, permission may be given (in writing) by members for their name to be shared with other members for the express purpose of conducting PHA business; for example special interest groups. Permission will be renewed annually when membership is renewed. When membership lapses or is cancelled, any permission is cancelled forthwith.

No employee or elected council, committee, branch, Māori caucus or Pacific caucus member shall attempt to use any confidential information for their own personal benefit or the benefit of any other.
