Officer, Regional Public Health

Regional Public Health has a vision of ‘Better Health
for the Greater Wellington Region’.
To help us achieve this vision we are seeking a Medical
Officer. Working as part of the Medical Team you will
provide expert clinical and public health support to the
Communicable Disease and School Health Teams.
Responsibilities include:
- Surveillance, triage and public health management of
notifiable diseases
- Overview and advice to the tuberculosis control
programme
- Clinical support to the School Health programme
- Close liaison with primary care practitioners.
We are looking for a team player with excellent
communications skills, knowledge of public health
approaches including communicable disease response, and
current relevant clinical skills such as experience in
general practice, sexual health, or child health
services.
This is a full-time position; however we will consider
job share options.
Regional Public Health delivers a comprehensive range of
population and personal health services. We are one of
the regional services provided by Hutt Valley District
Health Board and our geographical area of service
delivery spans three District Health Boards – Hutt
Valley, Capital and Coast and Wairarapa.

The Auckland Regional Public Health Service (ARPHS) is

The successful person
You are highly organised with excellent attention to
detail and time management skills. Ideally you have
experience in the health sector or in an enforcement or
compliance role and you are driven by the desire to make

The role
Representing the Medical Officer of Health and working
closely with the Alcohol & Tobacco Project Manager, you
will take full responsibility for a geographic area of
Auckland. You will be working with liquor licensees, the
Police and the local council to ensure licensed premises
comply with the legislation. With further training you
will work with licensees, workplaces and retail outlets
to ensure compliance with the Smokefree Environments
Act.
You will also be involved in exciting health promotion
initiatives that aim to reduce harm caused by alcohol
and tobacco. A recent example saw us working with the
Vodafone Warriors to help make their games smokefree.
Key objectives include:
- Develop relationships with licensees and ensure they
are supported to meet requirements, including host
responsibility
- Work collaboratively with Police, the District
Licensing Agency and other agencies with an interest in
reducing harm caused by alcohol and/or tobacco
- When necessary prepare briefs and attend hearings to
give evidence
- Regularly update files and databases and report on all
programme delivery and outcomes
Some evening and weekend work is required in this role.

Leader, ICT Health and Youth Development

The New Zealand AIDS Foundation (NZAF) is committed to
its vision of a world without HIV and AIDS. NZAF
achieves this through a range of interventions focused
on preventing the transmission of HIV and supporting
people affected by HIV and AIDS to maximise their health
and well-being. NZAF is also partnered with Rainbow
Youth in OutThere!, a queer youth development project.
The NZAF is now seeking an exceptional person to join
its HIV Prevention and Communications Group.
This position will have overall responsibility for
leading OutThere!, the youth development project NZAF
runs in partnership with Rainbow Youth, as well as
leading all technology based communications and
prevention interventions within NZAF, focused on
preventing the transmission of HIV.
The new programme leader will manage the two OutThere!
staff and provide guidance and support for new
initiatives within the HIV prevention work of NZAF on
the internet; the technology environment; and ‘on line’
social marketing projects.
We are looking for a committed, passionate individual
who can work independently and as part of a team.
Ideally you will have experience working in the youth
development sector and have an understanding of using
technology as a way of communicating health messages
with mass audiences.

for a skilled, enthusiastic programme evaluation expert
to join the health outcomes team.
The successful person
You are proactive and organised with a strong customer
service ethic. You self-manage well and have the
creativity and confidence to work with people at all
levels from community to management, both internally and
externally. You have demonstrated success in planning
and implementing evaluation of health or social
programmes.
The role
You will work across the health outcomes team to support
diverse health promotion programmes through evaluation
design, analysis and reporting. In collaboration with a
small team of programme planners and analysts you will
work to increase evaluation capacity and capability
across the team. On any given day you might be;
- Advising on programme planning and design for diverse
programmes including family violence prevention,
nutrition, oral health promotion and reducing alcohol
and tobacco related harm
- Working collaboratively with teams using the online
programme planning tool QIPPS
- Researching evidence bases of programmes and sharing
this information across the team
- Designing questionnaires, focus group tools and other
data collection methods
- Analysing data and producing evaluation reports and
recommendations.
