Public Health Physician/Medical Officer of Health

Dunedin or Invercargill

Public Health South wishes to appoint a Public Health Physician who is also able to be designated as a Medical Officer of Health.

This varied and challenging role will require you to work proactively with our public health team to ensure successful delivery of our outcomes focused programmes across the Southern DHB. You will join our three current specialists and work closely with the Ministry of Health, the media, other health professionals, local authorities and community health providers to provide leadership and guidance of public health matters for the Southern District.

You will ideally be experienced in working in multi-disciplinary teams and have a detailed understanding of the NZ health system. The ability to think strategically and translate strategic goals into operational plans along with proven presentation and communication skills are essential.

You can be based either in Dunedin or Invercargill city and occasional travel around Otago and Southland will be required. The on-call roster will be shared with the other specialists.

Specialist qualifications in public health medicine such as Fellowship with the RACP or NZ College of Public Health Medicine and eligibility for vocational registration with the NZ Medical Council are a requirement of the position.

Each local network will have a CEO who will lead these organisations into the future, reporting to a local Governing Council.

Trade Justice Campaigner

The Australian Fair Trade and Investment Network is a network of community groups and individuals which campaigns for a more equitable, open and accountable trade system, based on international labour rights and environmental standards, and to ensure that trade agreements do not reduce the ability of governments to regulate in the public interest (see www.aftinet.org.au).

The position is part-time for 3-4 days per week, on a fixed-term contract, with ongoing employment dependent on funding. The salary is paid part-time pro rata on an annual rate of $54,600 plus 9 percent superannuation.

Project Officer

The Aboriginal Health & Medical Research Council (AH&MRC) is looking to fill the position of Project Officer. This position is fixed term, full time for a period of 12 months.

The Project Officer is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of the AH&MRC Tobacco Resistance and Control Program, and leading the Aboriginal Quitline Enhancement Project, which contributes to the overall projects to support Aboriginal communities and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services across New South Wales.

IPNANZ National Cultural Strategies Manager

We are looking for an enthusiastic and engaging person to lead, develop and implement the IPNANZ Cultural Strategy and national policy development.

This new position focuses on strengthening the capacity and capability of Māori, Pacific, European and Ethnic communities, to respond effectively to their injury and violence issues through implementing the IPNANZ Strategic Plan through the development of effective national policies and practices.

Reporting to the IPNANZ Director, this national role has a key focus based on policy development and analysis, community engagement and relationship management, as well as initiating and implementing business plans within and across community groups.

You will need to have proven policy development and analysis experience, exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills, able to demonstrate successful engagement with a range of communities within New Zealand and of course expertise in and enthusiasm for injury prevention.

You will be a person with excellent communication skills, with the ability to work independently as well as collaborating with a small management team. Your effective policy analyst, report writing, documentation and monitoring skills in the area of injury prevention will be an asset to the organisation.

The IPNANZ National Cultural Strategies Manager role will be based in Wellington.

IPNANZ's commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi is reflected in its 50/50 partnership of its Governing Board and also all Senior Managers, including the Director having allocated targets aligned to reducing injury to Māori.
