Conference 2010 Abstract submission information

The PHA Conference theme for 2010 is Tomorrow for tomorrow's people.

Important dates:

  • First call for abstracts, Friday 5 February 2010
  • Close of abstracts submissions, Friday 9 April 2010
  • Notification of acceptance of abstracts Monday 3 May 2010
  • Submission of full presentations, Wednesday 7 September 2010.

Sub-themes/conference streams:

  • health and environment: for projects or work in social and physical environments that link to wellbeing
  • sustainable development: for projects or activities that involve community development OR those that look to a sustainable future
  • making the connection: focusing on linking health to other sectors OR working in collaborative partnerships.

Abstracts are invited for either:

  • workshop (1 hour)
  • oral presentation (15 minutes + 5 minutes for questions)
  • poster.

(More than one abstract may be submitted.)

All abstracts submitted are subject to review by the Organising Committee and will, after acceptance, be assigned to a presentation format. The Organising Committee reserves the right to contact authors, if required, to clarify the nature of intended presentations prior to making decisions regarding their acceptance.

All authors will be advised if their papers have been accepted or declined by Monday 3 May 2010. If your abstract is accepted, you will be allocated a time slot in the programme, which will include discussion time.

Submission details

Please read the submission instructions carefully before submitting your abstract. Abstracts are to be submitted online only (link coming soon).

Authors will receive automatic acknowledgement of the receipt of their paper.

Important requirements for the submission of abstracts

To ensure consistency in formatting, all abstracts are to fit with these guidelines:

  • We encourage, where possible, the presenting authors to submit abstracts.
  • All co-authors must be acknowledged.
  • Titles must be clear and concise.
  • Maximum length of abstract text is 300 words.
  • Multiple abstracts can be submitted.
  • Abstract should clearly state the aim of the paper, what the contents of the paper are and the main outcomes.
  • Abstracts must be thoroughly checked for spelling and grammar before submission.
  • Abstracts are to be submitted in plain text on the online abstraction submission site.
  • Abstracts may not include diagrams, tables or references.

Presentations at the Conference

Final presentations are required to be emailed or submitted on CD or USB stick no later than Wednesday 7 September 2010. Further instructions will be sent to authors of accepted papers.

Permissions

Permission will be required from you to:

  • share your abstracts and presentations on the conference website
  • allow media coverage of your presentations

Please indicate your permission on the submission form when submitting your abstract.
